Our race course is located in a beautiful, rural farmland and vineyard valley. Its rustic setting, removed from traffic and developed areas, makes it all the more special and scenic. And, it makes paying attention to the parking and busing directions really important! Click here to view/download a print-friendly version of this information.

  • We now have participant parking near the starting line! Parking for participants only is now available two tenths of a mile from the Soledad Mission and start line. Runners may also elect to be dropped off at participant parking. No spectator parking at the start will be permitted. Sweats will be transported from the start to the finish and bags will be provided at the start if needed. From 6:00 AM until 12:00 PM, River Road will be closed to traffic beginning 1.5 miles north of the finish line at Pessagno Winery and all along the course. There will be no parking at Pessagno for participants or spectators. After the race, participants will need to walk approximately one-half mile to the spectator parking area where they will board a bus and be taken back to participant parking near the Soledad Mission.
  • Spectator Parking & Busing: There is no parking at the finish line area at Pessagno Winery. Spectator parking will be available in a lot off Gonzales River Road near Pessagno Winery. Spectators will be required to walk approximately one-half mile to reach Pessagno Winery from the drop-off location adjacent to the race course. This walking route along the course will be the only location for spectators to cheer for runners before they cross the finish line.
Schedule of Events for Parking and Busing:
5:30 a.m    Participant parking opens
6:00 a.m.   Bib pick-up opens
7:30 a.m.   Access to participant parking closes  (Do Not Be Late!)
8:00 a.m.   Race Starts/Finish Festival begins/Spectator Parking begins
10:00 a.m. Awards Ceremony begins
10:00 a.m. First bus departs spectator parking area near Pessagno Winery to transport participants to Soledad Mission
12:00 p.m. Race finishes; course cleared and roads open
2:00 p.m.   Last bus leaves spectator parking area near Pessagno Winery to transport participants to Soledad Mission

 

Directions and Commute Times

  • From north of the course: If you are driving from Salinas, plan for the trip down Highway 101 to the parking lot near the Soledad Mission to take at least 45 minutes.
  • Coming from Monterey or Carmel, plan for a 70-90 minute drive.
  • From south of the course: If you are coming from King City, plan for the trip up Highway 101 to the Soledad Mission area to take about 30 minutes.

Directions to Participant Parking from Salinas (coming from north of the race course)

  • Take Highway 101 South for approximately 28 miles (30 minutes)
  • Exit 301 to Arroyo Seco Road
  • Bear RIGHT onto Arroyo Seco Road and go approximately one mile
  • Turn RIGHT onto Fort Romie Road and go approximately one mile
  • Runner parking will be on your RIGHT

Directions to Participant Parking from Monterey and Carmel (coming from north of the race course)

  • Take Highway 1 North to Highway 68 East into Salinas (17-21 miles; 30-45 minutes)
  • Turn RIGHT onto Blanco Road and go through 3 traffic lights
  • Turn RIGHT onto Highway 101 South at the 4th traffic light
  • Take Highway 101 South for approximately 28 miles (30 minutes)
  • Exit 301 to Arroyo Seco Road
  • Bear RIGHT onto Arroyo Seco Road and go approximately one mile
  • Turn RIGHT onto Fort Romie Road and go approximately one mile
  • Runner parking will be on your RIGHT

Directions to Participant Parking from King City (coming from south of the race course)

  • Take Highway 101 North for approximately 22 miles (20 minutes)
  • Exit 301 to Arroyo Seco Road
  • Turn RIGHT onto Arroyo Seco Road crossing over Hwy 101 and go approximately one mile
  • Turn RIGHT onto Fort Romie Road and go approximately one mile
  • Runner parking will be on your RIGHT

Directions to Spectator Parking from Salinas

  • Take Highway 101 South for approximately 14 miles
  • Exit 313 for Route 101 Business toward Gonzales
  • Continue STRAIGHT for 2 miles and you will enter Gonzales on Alta Street
  • Turn RIGHT onto Gonzales River Road
  • Continue 2 miles west on Gonzales River Road
  • The parking area will be on your right after you cross the Salinas River bridge

Directions to Spectator Parking from Monterey and Carmel

  • Take Highway 1 North to Highway 68 East into Salinas (17-21 miles; 30-45 minutes)
  • Turn RIGHT onto Blanco Road and go through 3 traffic lights
  • Turn RIGHT onto Highway 101 South at the 4th traffic light
  • Follow instructions to Spectator Parking from Salinas

Directions to Spectator Parking from King City

  • Take Highway 101 North approximately 27 miles
  • Exit 310 to Gonzales
  • At the end of the ramp continue STRAIGHT and the road will take you over highway 101
  • Follow the signs to Gonzales and bear to the RIGHT onto Alta Street
  • Continue on Alta Street for approximately 1 mile
  • Turn LEFT on Gonzales River Road
  • Continue 2 miles west on Gonzales River Road
  • The parking area will be on your right after you cross the Salinas River bridge
